Celebrate the giving spirit and support the work of local nonprofits by participating in this year’s Give Big Pittsburgh!
What is Give Big Pittsburgh?
Tied with Giving Tuesday, a nationally recognized annual day of giving, Give Big Pittsburgh is a local platform that works to raise awareness, collect donations, and build stronger ties between members of our community. To participate in this Day of Giving community members are invited to explore and collaborate in raising funds for nonprofits that are doing great work in Pittsburgh.
Why Should You Participate?
Because Give Big Pittsburgh uses an online platform, the donation process for Giving Tuesday is quick and simple. Simply add nonprofits and individual donation values to your “Gift Basket” to complete all of your donations in one go. Donors can access their donation receipts online, making it easy to track and report your tax-deductible donations.
Visit the website to get acquainted with the platform and add nonprofits to your basket.

About the Balmoral School…
Founded in 1979, The Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming has trained over 3000 American pipers from across the USA at its summer sessions with instruction by champion pipers from Scotland and Ireland. We generously give scholarships to promising young pipers and drummers to attend the Balmoral summer sessions. We actively promote youth by producing the Balmoral Classic which includes the US Junior Solo Piping and Drumming Championship competitions for pipers and drummers, age 21 and younger, during November in Pittsburgh, followed by a concert with internationally recognized performers of Celtic music. Our family-oriented local pipe band with six teenage members, the Balmoral Pipes and Drums, performs in concerts, all the area holiday parades, and First Night Pittsburgh. Other projects include the production of a book over 100 hymns arranged for the Highland bagpipe, and a book on how to play the pipes for community dances. The Balmoral School has instructed the only American pipers to win the top solo piping awards in Scotland.
Our story is all about sharing our celtic musical heritage with youth and interested adults, with an emphasis on instruction and presenting special events.
