The Balmoral Pipes & Drums Band is a project of the Balmoral School of Piping & Drumming, a non-profit, tax-exempt 501.c.3 corporation located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The band celebrated its 100th performance in early 2022, and is comprised of pipers and drummers of all ages and ability levels.
Our ensemble is a teaching organization that strives to continue the proud and noble tradition of executing bagpipe & drum music at the highest level possible. We practice weekly and perform at numerous public and private events throughout the year. Those with an interest in piping or drumming are always welcomed, regardless of experience or ability level.

The Chieftains' farewell tour, "Irish Goodbye!"
Balmoral was honored to be perhaps the last American pipe band to play with Paddy Moloney, performing with the Chieftains and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
After fifty-seven years of making some of the most beautiful music in the world, The Chieftains remained as fresh and relevant as when they first began. The six-time Grammy Award winners were highly recognized for reinventing traditional Irish music on a contemporary and International scale. Their ability to transcend musical boundaries, to blend tradition with modern music, distinguishes them as one of the world's most renowned and revered musical groups to this day.
