PITTSBURGH’S BALMORAL SCHOOL PRESENTS NUALLAN IN CONCERT
Spirited Celtic Music From North of the Border!

As part of its 12thannual Balmoral Classic, the Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming is proud to present Cape Breton band, Nuallan. The concert will be held at 8:00pm, Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Carnegie Lecture Hall, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.

Formed by the Gaelic College and comprised of three Cape Breton pipers—Keith MacDonald, Kenneth MacKenzie, and Kevin Dugas—Nuallan explores the style of piping brought from Scotland by Highland Gaels and developed over the past 200 years in Cape Breton Island. Nuallan's members are well-known for their rhythmic, musical playing. The band plays both Highland and lowland pipes and will be joined onstage by talented musicians on guitar, keyboard and fiddle.

According to Nuallan’s members, “We are very excited to be heading to the Balmoral Classic this fall. It's an honour to be asked by an organization with such a great history and we can't wait to make a load of new friends!”

Although Cape Breton pipers play the same highland bagpipes as their Scottish counterparts, their style is very different, more like Scottish music, as it was played in the late 1700s and early 1800s when their ancestors emigrated from Scotland. Nuallan’s music is dance-oriented, the most common tunes being strathspeys, reels and jigs, in contrast to the military marches and piobaireachd found in Scottish piping.

“We are really fortunate to bring Nuallan to the Balmoral Classic,” says the school’s director, George Balderose. “Their music brings piping to a high level of community involvement.”

Tickets for the concert are on sale now for $27, $35 at the door, $15 for Students w/ID and Seniors 65+. To purchase, call 888-71-TICKETS, or go to SHOWCLIX online.
