Balmoral Classic Contra Dance

Balmoral Classic Contra Dance

On November 16th, the first night of our 12th Annual Balmoral Classic weekend, join us at a celebration of Celtic culture, a special event for the competitors, families, guests and supporters of the Balmoral Classic, as well as the Pittsburgh dance community. This event is also a book-release event for The Balmoral Guide to Scottish Pipers Playing for Community Dances.

The judges for the Balmoral Classic Junior Solo Piping & Drumming Championships, themselves among the world’s most accomplished musicians, will be playing for the dance with Celtic group Road to the Isles on smallpipes, border pipes, fiddle, and snare drum, along with two fiddlers, an uillean (Irish) piper, a guitarist and a keyboard player.

The event is Co-sponsored by the Pittsburgh Contra Dance Network (https://pittsburghcontra.org). You can find a link to a similar contra dance, held last March 24, 2017 in Pittsburgh, at: https://youtu.be/nuf9AKZ2zCo. Balmoral contestants admitted for free.

The location for the contra dance is St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, 419 S Dithridge St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

$10 admission.
