Starting season 2020 with a bang!

Balmoral instructors and student win at the US Piping Foundation’s Professional competitions on June 20, 2020
Balmoral instructors, students, former students and band members have been taking some early prizes in this summer’s online competitions.
At the US Piping Foundation’s Professional competitions on June 20, 2020, Balmoral summer session instructor Bruce Gandy took first in the MSR and second in the Piobaireachd, as well as the Overall Award. Former Balmoral student Derek Midgely took first in the Piobaireachd, and Andrew Carlisle, also teaching at this year’s summer schools, took a fifth in the Piobaireachd.
In the Redding Online Piobaireachd Competition, Bruce Gandy won the Professional grade against 15 other contestants.

Balmoral Pipes & Drums Pipe Sergeant and instructor, Sean Patrick Regan, won Open Piper of the Day at both the Capital District Virtual and Carnegie Mellon Virtual competitions.

Piper Glenna Van Dyke took 1st and "above grade level" in Grade 4 Sr. Strathspey & Reel and 2/4 March at the Capital District Virtual competition

Drummer Christopher Welch placed in the Central Florida online competition, earning a 3rd out of 8 in Gr 4 Sr. Snare 2/4 march.

With 206 competitors taking part in the Ohio Scottish Games online competition, our band members represented us well.
